Job Overview:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will support the nuclear physician in executing specialized imaging procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Possession of a valid New Jersey State license.
- ARRT(R), ARRT(CT) certification and/or NMTCB Fusion Certification.
- Current BLS certification.
Preferred:
- A minimum of two years of experience as a staff technologist in a hospital setting.
Scheduling Requirements:
- This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, consisting of five 8-hour shifts. Weekend shifts are required every 5th or 6th week, and on-call duties are part of the role.
- The technologist will also have responsibilities at University Hospital and the Plum St. Imaging Center, all connected via a bridge on the New Brunswick Campus.
Essential Functions:
Key responsibilities include:
- Adhering to standards set by the hospital and relevant regulatory agencies.
- Completing special assignments from supervisors in a timely manner.
- Assisting the nuclear physician with specialized imaging procedures.
- Ensuring all tests are conducted accurately and results are validated before patient release.
- Calibrating dose calibrators and performing quality control on gamma cameras, promptly reporting any issues to the lead technician.
- Clearly explaining procedures to patients, including wait times, and ensuring their comfort during the process while obtaining optimal images using prescribed techniques.
- Identifying patients (both inpatient and outpatient) according to hospital standard operating procedures before initiating any procedures.
- Managing all hot lab functions, including the handling of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with vendor, departmental, and regulatory guidelines.
