Pay Rate
Local: $2,000 – $2,800/week (Based on Experience)
Traveler: $2,500 – $3,100/week (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform general nuclear medicine and cardiac studies, administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate imaging equipment, and maintain radiation-safety and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a busy hospital setting.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Valid NJDEP license.
Current ARRT or NMTCB registry.
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
Experience with general nuclear medicine and cardiac studies.
Experience with organ imaging, functional studies, SPECT, and SPECT/CT.
Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical preparation, administration, handling, storage, and disposal.
Strong understanding of radiation protection and nuclear medicine safety standards.
Experience with PACS/PACS workstations.
Familiarity with EPIC, TeleTracking, and Nuclear Medicine Information Systems preferred.
Strong patient-care, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
Responsibilities
Perform general nuclear medicine examinations, including organ imaging and functional studies.
Perform cardiac nuclear medicine studies according to established protocols.
Prepare, handle, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive tracer compounds safely and accurately.
Operate and monitor nuclear medicine imaging equipment.
Perform SPECT and SPECT/CT examinations as assigned.
Assist physicians with therapeutic radioisotope procedures under established safety protocols.
Position and immobilize patients to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
Evaluate images using PACS/PACS workstations for patient identification, image quality, and diagnostic value.
Maintain radiation protection for patients, staff, visitors, and self.
Calibrate equipment and perform radionuclide assays before procedures.
Receive and inspect radiopharmaceutical packages according to applicable regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation of radioactive material receipt, use, storage, and disposal.
Maintain clean and contamination-free examination rooms, equipment, and work areas.
Rotate assignments as needed, including Cardiology and PET/CT.
Complete documentation and clerical responsibilities using EPIC, TeleTracking, Nuclear Medicine Information System, and other computer systems.
Assist with patient scheduling and computer processing related to nuclear medicine examinations.
Provide patient assistance and communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
Maintain accurate patient records and proper patient identification throughout the imaging process.
Participate in quality improvement, safety, infection-control, and departmental initiatives.
Participate in weekend and holiday coverage, on-call assignments, and overtime as required.
