Position Overview

Join a leading brain and mental health organization as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment. The ideal candidate is efficient, compassionate, well-organized, and experienced in working with both children and adults.

The role involves performing brain SPECT scans, patient preparation and dosing, imaging procedures, and daily camera and hot lab quality control. Familiarity with brain imaging is a plus. Since the clinic receives unit doses from an outside nuclear pharmacy and does not have a generator on-site, strong organization, time management, and efficiency are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform brain SPECT scans and related quality assurance procedures.
  • Prepare patients for IV procedures and administer patient doses.
  • Prepare patient doses and perform testing protocols.
  • Process and print scan images before the end of each workday.
  • Maintain the Odyssey hard drive and accurate, up-to-date logbooks.
  • Perform daily quality control on cameras and all hot lab duties.
  • Perform daily constancy testing with two sources and daily surveys.
  • Conduct weekly wipe tests.
  • Order the appropriate number of isotope vials one day prior to scheduled scans.
  • Maintain all required documentation.
  • Perform semi-annual sealed source leak tests.
  • Perform quarterly dose calibrator linearity tests.
  • Perform annual geometry and accuracy tests on the dose calibrator.
  • Manage medical supply inventory.

Qualifications

  • Current Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in the applicable state.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment.
  • Experience working effectively with challenging patients.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to the public.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Empathy, emotional stability, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Genuine care and compassion for patients.
  • Familiarity with brain imaging is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Picker Prism 3000 system is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent typing and viewing of computer screens.
  • Frequent sitting for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers with computers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, telephones, and other equipment.
  • Frequent hearing, listening, and speaking by telephone and in person.
  • Occasional standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, or bending.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs., potentially multiple times per day.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Pay: $40.00 $50.00/hour.
  • Annual Salary Equivalent: $83,200 $104,000/year based on 2,080 hours annually.
