Job Summary
The position utilizes multidisciplinary skills to perform a variety of procedures using sealed and unsealed radionuclides, and radiation detecting equipment in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform technical exams accurately and in a timely fashion, including the operation of equipment, transferring patients to the exam table, correct positioning of patients for their exam, and providing a safe environment for the procedure.
- Perform and document quality control on all equipment to ensure compliance with calibration dates and regulatory standards.
- Prepare, administer, dispose, and document radiopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, oral contrast, and IV contrast under the direction of the physician authorized user, following departmental protocols.
- Maintain accurate records for shipping, receiving, use, storage, and disposal of all radioisotopes per regulatory and policy standards.
- Document and maintain room surveys, wipe tests, bioassays, and assist in quality attainment programs.
- Schedule exams, verify physician written orders, and send documentation to medical records.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of rooms and equipment, and stock supplies and linen as needed.
- Crosstrain in other department technologies as required for better utilization of personnel.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning sequences of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
- Coordinate activities and lead others in similar work performed without supervisory responsibilities.
- Interact directly with patients, internal customers, external customers, and other healthcare professionals and staff, both via telephone and face-to-face.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum six (6) months of related experience.
- Excellent time management, multitasking, organizational, and prioritizing skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication with a broad spectrum of individuals.
Required Education
- Graduate from an AMA approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Required Certification & Licensure
- CNMT (Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology) OR ARRT (N) License.
- CPR certified.
Additional Requirements
- At least 1 year of previous relevant experience.
- Experience with PET, Siemens Equipment, and Epic.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the field.
