What You Will Do

This position is open for external candidates only to apply.

The selected candidate will report to the RLUOB Operations Manager serving as the primary interface between the tenant organizations, support services subcontractors and FOD to review and implement DOE O 422.1, Conduct of Operations. Develops and maintains facility operations-focused programs, policies, processes, and procedures in support of safe and compliant facility operations. Duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to, manage outage plans; tracking employee training/qualification; providing advanced guidance in interpreting Laboratory policies impacting facility operations to ensure compliance; Coordinating the review and revision of procedures, specifications, and forms pertaining to facility operations; Managing and performing assigned Laboratory, Facility, and Operational programs, ensuring compliance and reporting requirements are maintained. Perform all other functions of a fully trained RLUOB operator as required.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Strong knowledge of facility operations, including familiarity with integrated safety, formality of operations, facility availability, compliance, maintenance, engineering, safety basis, readiness, configuration management, work control, activity approval, quality assurance, training and qualification, feedback and improvement.
Strong knowledge with Conduct of Operations as applied to Nuclear Operations.
Strong knowledge of institutional and organizational policies, practices, and procedures, including policy and procedure development, implementation, and enforcement.
Strong knowledge of the attributes of sound conduct of operations program. Familiarity with all Department of Energy (DOE) training, qualification, and readiness requirements as they pertain to assigned facility.
Strong understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

DOE Order 426.2A: Requires a Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering or a related science or technology, 2 years of job related experience, and 1 year of nuclear experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of P315 and the attributes of a sound conduct of operations program.
Advanced knowledge of issues management processes and performance measurement processes.
Advanced knowledge of documentation quality assurance, including document controls and records management.
Advanced knowledge of the P115 Verification of Readiness to Start Up or Restart LANL Nuclear Facilities, Activities, and Operations process and related LANL readiness policies.

Work Schedule: This position may involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

426.2A: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2A, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
