    Job Description

    Independently, or under the direction of a Radiologist or Cardiologist, performs Nuclear Medicine procedures and provides patient care requiring independent judgment, technical skill, ingenuity, and initiative to obtain high-quality diagnostic information. Performs routine and specialized Nuclear Medicine imaging and procedures utilizing sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and radiopharmaceuticals. Independently selects and modifies technical factors and imaging parameters as appropriate to produce optimum diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety, confidentiality, dignity, and comfort as a top priority. Utilizes diagnostic imaging techniques to detect, evaluate, and map the distribution of radioactive pharmaceuticals within the human body for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment planning. Essential Functions Performs diagnostic Nuclear Medicine examinations according to established protocols and department procedures. Prepares, administers, and documents radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with applicable policies, regulatory requirements, and physician orders. Positions patients appropriately and obtains diagnostic-quality images while maintaining patient safety and comfort. Evaluates images for technical quality and determines whether additional or modified imaging is necessary. Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiation safety, and radiopharmaceutical use. Maintains accurate patient records and required documentation. Practices appropriate radiation safety procedures for patients, staff, and the public. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Provides professional, compassionate patient care throughout the examination. Maintains equipment and supplies and reports equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly. On-call rotation for after hours, weekends, and holidays. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Graduate of a recognized program in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology. Graduate of a recognized Nuclear Medicine Technology program is preferred. Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiologic Technology, or a related field is preferred. Certification / Registration ARRT certification/registration in Radiography or Nuclear Medicine and/or NMTCB certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, as applicable. Must maintain required certifications and registrations in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
