JOB TITLE: Numerical Control Programmer 3 – Machining & Tooling
LOCATION: Auburn, WA
PAY RATE: $65/hour

Summary: 

  • Create, verify, and revise Machine Control Data (MCD), tooling geometry, and setup documentation for multi-axis CNC machines (primarily 5-axis).

  • Develop NC programs for complex aluminum and hard-metal aerospace parts using engineering drawings and planning documentation.

  • Plan multiple setups and operations for complex geometries while ensuring proper fixturing, tooling, and machine selection.

  • Produce clear setup sheets and operator instructions for safe and consistent machining operations.

  • Validate programs using simulation/verification tools (e.g., Vericut) to prevent collisions or gouging.

  • Troubleshoot and refine programs based on first-article inspections and shop-floor feedback.

  • Collaborate with planning, manufacturing engineering, tooling design, and operators to improve cycle time and manufacturability.

  • Maintain program documentation, revisions, and configuration control.

  • Lead the design of custom fixtures and complex tooling setups.

  • Define machining strategies across multiple machines and operations.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires an Associate degree with 3+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant CNC programming experience.

  • 5+ years of CNC/NC programming experience in production machining or equivalent experience.

  • Experience programming 5-axis CNC machines for aerospace components.

  • Proficiency reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation.

  • Experience with CATIA V5 NC programming.

  • Experience using NC verification tools such as Vericut.

  • Ability to create clear setup documentation and operator instructions.

  • Ability to work 2nd shift.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing custom fixtures and tooling for multi-setup machining.

  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and first-article inspection requirements.

  • Experience improving cycle times and machining efficiency.

  • Strong collaboration skills with planning, engineering, and shop-floor teams.

  • Experience with additional CAM systems or aerospace post-processors.
