Summary

The responsibility of the Patient Driver Nurse Aide is to provide care for the patients under the direction of the nursing and medical staff, by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties

• Drive patients to and from appointments at doctor's offices or hospital.
• Accompany disabled individuals to appointments.
• Wait with patients at doctor's office and/or hospital.
• Assist doctors with exam (positioning of patient).
• Listen and document doctor's recommendations and report to nurses on unit.
• Document patient's consult sheet.
• Transport residents to and from units for appointments.
• Provide hands-on care of patients during inclement weather.
• Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.

Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Valid Nurse Aide Certification.
• Current Certification in CPR.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Accurate and detail oriented.
• Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong professional ethics.
• Demonstrates integrity and honesty.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Work Environment:

• The noise level is quiet to moderate.
• Will need to drive in all types of weather approximately 25% of the time.

• Ability to work as part of a team (two CNA's travel together to appointments with residents).
• Ability to drive a station wagon or van.
