DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides hands-on support that promotes the comfort, safety, and daily well-being of residents at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Resident Care: Assist residents with daily living needs such as bathing, grooming, meals, and mobility based on individual plans of care
  • Health Observation: Monitor resident conditions and share important changes with licensed nursing staff
  • Safety Support: Follow safety procedures and help maintain a hazard-free environment for residents
  • Room Maintenance: Keep resident rooms neat, organized, and tidy to support a comfortable setting
  • Transport Assistance: Move or escort residents safely to activities, appointments, or other locations as needed
  • Record Keeping: Document care and services accurately on required forms in line with facility standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days, weekends, and holidays. Every other weekend is required.

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM

  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania's veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
