Summary

  • The Corporate Nurse Educator is a professional member of the Clinical Learning & Development team who provides system-wide educational support for all clinical staff across Jackson Health System campuses.
  • Serves as the primary educator overseeing the Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Residency and Fellowship programs, supporting new graduate and experienced nurses transitioning into or advancing within the ED setting.
  • Partners with ED leadership teams across JHS campuses to standardize clinical care, workflows, and practice standards throughout the Emergency Care continuum.
  • Administers, organizes, and conducts training and education programs in alignment with employee orientation, mandatory/required training, in-services, continuing education, competency validation, quality assessment, and process improvement projects.
  • Assists multidisciplinary content experts in developing standardized patient education and clinical practice materials.
  • Serves as a consultant, facilitator, preceptor, and educator for clinical staff and leadership across the health system.
  • Maintains records of orientation, in-service, and training activities.
  • Contributes to the review, revision, and distribution of policies and procedures.
  • Performs under the direction of CL&D leadership while independently seeking guidance and direction as needed.

Responsibilities

System-Wide Education

  • Designs, develops, and delivers educational programs and curricula that address the clinical and operational needs of all JHS clinical staff across multiple campuses.

  • Leads or supports new employee orientation, annual competency validation, and specialty training initiatives at the system level.

  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, department leaders, and external partners to ensure content is accurate, current, and relevant to clinical practice.

  • Supports accreditation and regulatory readiness (e.g., TJC, ANCC/PTAP) through education planning, documentation, and staff preparation.

  • Utilizes adult learning principles, simulation, and technology-enhanced modalities including virtual reality to deliver engaging and effective educational experiences.

  • Evaluates program effectiveness using data, learner feedback, and outcome metrics; implements improvements accordingly.

ED Residency & Fellowship Oversight

  • Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Emergency Department Nurse Residency and Fellowship programs across JHS.

  • Serves as the lead educator and program coordinator, ensuring curriculum meets regulatory, accreditation, and professional development standards.

  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with ED nurse managers, directors, and clinical educators across all JHS campuses.

  • Monitors resident and fellow progress, provides coaching and feedback, and escalates concerns to program leadership as appropriate.

  • Coordinates with preceptors, charge nurses, and unit leadership to support a positive and structured transition-to-practice experience.

Standardization of Care & Workflows

  • Partners with ED leadership teams system-wide to identify opportunities to standardize clinical workflows, nursing practice, and patient care processes across JHS Emergency Care Centers.
  • Develops and disseminates evidence-based education materials, job aids, and tools that support consistent, high-quality care delivery.
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to align education with quality, safety, and performance improvement goals.

Operations & Compliance

  • Maintains compliance with AHA life support certification programs and other required training standards.
  • Serves as a resource and educator for workplace violence prevention (AVADE), patient safety, and clinical best practices.
  • Documents education activities and maintains accurate records within the learning management system (LMS).
  • Participates in departmental initiatives, committee work, and system-wide projects as assigned.

Experience

  • Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.
  • Experience in staff education, training, or a related educational role preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems.
  • Experience with accreditation standards (TJC, ANCC/PTAP) and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with simulation-based education and/or virtual reality learning platforms.

Education

  • Bachelor''s degree in Nursing is required.

  • MSN or graduate degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field highly preferred.

  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) or related specialty preferred.

  • Unit Specific Competencies: Must have clinical knowledge, skill and ability to fully and accurately complete all required unit competencies, as indicated in the unit competency check-list.

Credentials

  • Valid Florida RN license is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
  • Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.
