Job Description
A healthcare organization on Long Island is seeking a Nurse Educator (RN) to support staff development through clinical training, education, and compliance-focused guidance in an office-based environment serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Hours: 8:30 AM-5:30 PM
- Setting: Office-based
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and coordinate medical and health-related training programs for staff
- Train direct care staff, managers, and other personnel across the organization
- Develop, update, and maintain training materials and curriculum
- Conduct classroom-style presentations and hands-on training sessions
- Ensure compliance with OPWDD and agency standards while supporting training initiatives
Qualifications:
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license
- Experience in OPWDD and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities services
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience training, mentoring, coaching, educating, or presenting to staff
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Desired Skills:
- Formal nurse educator experience
- CPR instructor certification
- Experience teaching AMAP, infection control, diabetes management, seizure management, or similar clinical topics
- Learning management system experience
- Experience administering and interpreting PPD/Mantoux testing
- Comfort with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Word
