THE POSITION

Are you ready to guide nursing teams and support patient recovery with strong leadership? The Nurse Manager 2 position for Norristown State Hospital is an opportunity to lead nursing teams that support patient recovery every day. This role allows you to guide skilled staff, strengthen patient care practices, and help maintain high professional standards. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position directs and coordinates psychiatric and medical nursing care to support patient treatment and facility goals. The role requires strong leadership to guide nursing staff, manage clinical programs, and maintain compliance with professional standards. As a Nurse Manager 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Coordination: Work with other disciplines to develop and support comprehensive treatment programs
  • Staff Leadership: Guide Nurse Manager 1s and Registered Nurse Supervisors, and evaluate staff performance
  • Compliance Management: Ensure nursing practices follow hospital policies and state and federal standards
  • Operational Support: Assist with budget planning, equipment needs, and administrative responsibilities
  • Clinical Direction: Assign and supervise care based on patient status, required interventions, and staff competency

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Nurse Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) in a facility providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; or
  • Eight years of professional nursing experience, including three years in a managerial capacity providing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; and a bachelors degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration. A masters degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration may be substituted for up to one year of the required general professional nursing work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years in a managerial capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
