    Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health RN

    Location: Aventura, Florida

    Employment Type: Full-Time

    Schedule: Full-Time • Days (No Weekends)

    About the Role

    A leading South Florida acute care hospital is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Manager to oversee the daily operations of a busy inpatient behavioral health unit. This nursing leadership opportunity offers the chance to lead a dedicated team while driving quality patient care, operational excellence, staff engagement, and regulatory compliance within a growing behavioral health service line. The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the department's clinical and operational performance, supporting staff development, managing resources, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. This leader will work collaboratively with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve departmental goals related to quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, productivity, and fiscal performance. This position is ideal for an experienced behavioral health nurse leader who thrives in a fast-paced acute care environment and is passionate about developing teams while improving patient outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide operational and clinical leadership for the inpatient Behavioral Health department.
    • Manage daily department operations and ensure efficient patient care delivery.
    • Oversee staffing plans, scheduling, and resource allocation to support unit performance.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and professional development of nursing staff.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to RNs, Behavioral Health Technicians, and clinical coordinators.
    • Collaborate with physicians, hospital administration, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals.
    • Monitor quality metrics, patient satisfaction data, and performance improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
    • Participate in employee performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
    • Maintain fiscal accountability through budget management and productivity monitoring.
    • Provide oversight of 24/7 unit operations and ensure continuity of care across all shifts.
    • Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Current Florida RN license or Compact RN license eligible to practice in Florida.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program required.
    • Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
    • Current ACLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
    • Current CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire.
    • Minimum three (3) years of Behavioral Health nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.
    • Minimum three (3) years of nursing leadership experience as a Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Administrative Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Nurse Manager in an acute care setting.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health operations, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards.
    • Strong leadership, communication, team-building, and problem-solving skills.

    Additional Position Details

    • 53-bed inpatient Behavioral Health unit.
    • Oversight of approximately 108 FTEs including RNs, Behavioral Health Technicians, and Clinical Nurse Coordinators.
    • Typical RN-to-patient ratio of 1:8.
    • Adult behavioral health patient population.
    • Responsible for 24/7 operational leadership of the department.
    • Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
    • At least one year of leadership experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
