Job Description The Clinical Manager has 24-hour responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in a designated unit. This position has authority to make decisions on that unit in the areas of patient care, human resource, and financial management. The clinical manager is responsible for unit's operations. This position demonstrates superior communication skills with all internal and external customers and exhibits a high degree of integrity, a solid character, and sound judgment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you will do
Assists the divisional director in development, implementation and evaluation of on going service programs that assure quality nursing and patient care programs consistent with hospital mission.
Monitors and maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety.
Oversees quality improvement program which monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care. Accurately identifies potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication.
Maintains current license and knowledge of nursing care requirements for all patients on the unit. Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.
Promotes patient-centered care practices that address the unique needs of rural populations, including acute care and swing bed services, ensuring patient flow and continuity of care.
Responsible for ongoing development of staff and unit specific patient care programs. Works collaboratively with the educator(s) to ensure all clinical competencies are met.
Consults with patients and families through primary nurse request, direct family request, and/or direct assessment of patient and family response to hospitalization. Assesses patient and significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services.
Responsible for effective and efficient fiscal management of department operations to ensure proper utilization of organizational and financial resources.
Collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy services, case management, dietary, and ancillary departments to ensure coordinated care.
Responsible for department's operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
Manages team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
Initiates and coordinates special projects pertaining to case management.
Membership in appropriate Hospital committees, both medical staff and operational.

Qualifications
Minimum Education
Associates Degree Nursing Required
Bachelor's Degree Business, Nursing, Health Care, Within three (3) years of employment Required
Minimum Work Experience
2 years clinical nursing experience Required
1 year management experience (will consider charge nurse experience) Required
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) within 30 Days Required
Professional Nursing Certification within 2 Years Preferred
