Position Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight for a Labor & Delivery department. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, supporting nursing staff development, driving quality initiatives, and overseeing daily clinical and operational functions within a busy women's health service line.
The Nurse Manager will collaborate closely with nursing leadership, physicians, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to promote excellent patient outcomes, staff engagement, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery and departmental operations.
  • Lead and support nursing teams to ensure compliance with professional, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Establish departmental goals focused on quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational performance.
  • Evaluate patient care delivery and intervene as needed to address concerns or opportunities for improvement.
  • Serve as an advocate for patients and families, including support for ethical, legal, and cultural considerations.
  • Partner with leadership and clinical teams to support evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, retention, coaching, and performance management of nursing staff.
  • Monitor staffing effectiveness and implement strategies to improve employee engagement and retention.
  • Maintain clinical competence through direct involvement in patient care activities when needed.
  • Collaborate with educators and clinical specialists to develop and implement staff education programs.
  • Address employee relations issues and participate in grievance resolution processes as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing and physician leadership to achieve departmental objectives related to quality, finance, staffing, and patient experience.
Leadership Priorities
  • Support and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for patients, providers, and caregivers.
  • Improve and sustain maternal and newborn quality outcomes through data-driven performance improvement.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based clinical practice changes.
  • Recruit and retain experienced Labor & Delivery nurses as well as support nurse residency and fellowship programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program, or Associate Degree in Nursing with a commitment to obtain a BSN within two years of hire.
  • Active Washington Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
  • Previous leadership experience as a Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Manager, or similar role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field.
  • Prior first-line nursing management experience.
  • Experience leading quality improvement and staff development initiatives.
  • Strong background in women's services or perinatal care environments.
