As Maryland's largest children's hospital, Johns Hopkins Children's Center has more than 92,000 patient visits and nearly 9,000 admissions each year. It has recognized centers of excellence in dozens of pediatric subspecialties including allergy, cardiology, cystic fibrosis, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, pulmonary, and transplantation.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Nurse Manager to lead our 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The Johns Hopkins PICU is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care to children and young adults with life-threatening acute illnesses and those recovering from major surgery. Critical medical illnesses include acute respiratory failure, complex congenital and acquired cardiac failure, renal and hepatic failure, shock, overwhelming infections and metabolic diseases, severe asthma, seizures, cardiac arrest, brain resuscitation and diabetic coma. The PICU is the shock trauma and burn unit for the care of critically injured and burned children in the state of Maryland.

What you will do:

The Nurse Manager provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role is responsible for achieving unit, departmental, and organizational goals through effective management of clinical operations, staff development, and performance improvement initiatives. She/he will foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, engagement, and professional growth.

Who Should Apply:

  • Master of Nursing (MSN) (Required). Applicants with a Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a Master's of Nursing (MSN) program. One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 Years of Experience in clinical nursing (Required); registered nursing or nursing leadership experience on a Pediatric unit strongly preferred.
  • Previous clinical management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience navigating rapidly changing situations, from evolving patient needs to technological advancements, by remaining flexible, continuously learning, embracing new challenges, and quickly recovering from setbacks.
  • Current Maryland RN license required.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Salary Range: Minimum 58.03/hour - Maximum 89.94/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
