Nurse Manager Surgical Services

Position Summary: The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring high‑quality nursing care and providing 24/7 administrative leadership for the nursing unit. This role oversees staffing, operations, quality initiatives, and patient care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Hire, train, develop, and evaluate nursing staff; ensure appropriate staffing levels.

• Manage departmental budgets and maintain required reports and statistical data.

• Coordinate nursing activities and ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care.

• Maintain effective communication with medical staff and ancillary departments.

• Establish unit goals aligned with facility and system objectives.

• Ensure safe, compliant, and patient‑centered care practices.

• Oversee nursing interventions, documentation, and age‑appropriate care delivery.

• Support staff development and retention; participate in quality improvement efforts.

• Follow all policies, procedures, and safety standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A graduate of an accredited nursing program is required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred (required within 3 years).

• Minimum 3 years of recent clinical experience; 2 years of leadership experience preferred.

• An active Tennessee RN license is required.
