You’ll serve as a trusted guide for patients and families—coordinating appointments, providing pre‑ and post‑op education, triaging calls, and ensuring every patient feels supported and informed. You’ll also collaborate with surgeons, APPs, and inpatient teams to keep care plans moving smoothly.

Position Details:

Nurse Navigator – Mercy South: Cardiothoracic Surgery

Location: 10012 Kennerly Road, Suite 101 St. Louis, MO 63128


Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week | Monday through Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides comprehensive pre‑ and post‑operative patient education, drives quality efforts to reduce readmissions, and manages procedure scheduling.

  • Implement structured post‑procedure tracking to reduce readmissions.

  • Support daily CV clinic operations within budget and staffing guidelines.

  • Prepare the department for increased patient volume, including the arrival of a new CV surgeon.

  • Strengthen quality outcomes, patient access, and provider support.

  • Provide CV case‑scheduling support as procedural volume grows.

  • Offer cross‑coverage within the CV clinic to maintain patient flow and operational efficiency.

  • Offload non‑procedural and care‑coordination tasks from APPs to enhance access and allow top‑of‑scope practice.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current RN (Registered Nurse) license in state of Missouri.

  • Required Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Required Certifications: Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

  • Preferred Certifications: ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to poor women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, the first religious order not bound to the rules of the cloister, whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. By the time Catherine died in 1841, there were convents in Ireland and England, and in 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1871, they traveled to St. Louis and from there throughout the Midwest, beginning what would, today be known as Mercy.
