Why Providers Choose CLFC

  • Competitive 1099 compensation with billable travel to assigned facilities across Alaska.
  • CLFC provides professional liability (malpractice) coverage for contracted assignments.

  • CLFC handles credentialing coordination, scheduling through the BRIDGE App, contract administration, and organized, scheduled payment processing, so you focus on patient care.
  • Dedicated recruiting and scheduling support and a fast, organized onboarding process.
  • The opportunity to serve a medically underserved population and practice at the top of your license.

The Ideal Candidate

You practice with confidence and value full practice authority, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary and custody teams. You independently manage medically complex adult patients with full prescriptive autonomy while maintaining professionalism and security awareness in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver adult primary and urgent care in a secure correctional (jail/prison) medical environment across assigned Alaska Department of Corrections facilities.
  • Conduct history and physical examinations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, and run sick call and scheduled provider clinics.
  • Manage chronic disease, medication reconciliation, and medication-assisted treatment; prescribe within scope, including controlled substances under active DEA registration.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies; coordinate specialty referrals and continuity of care.
  • Respond to urgent and emergent clinical situations and provide on-call coverage per the facility schedule.
  • Document in the facility EHR and comply with correctional healthcare standards, security protocols, and standards of care.

Required Qualifications

  • An active Alaska RN license and Alaska APRN authorization, or demonstrated eligibility and the ability to obtain both prior to assignment (CLFC provides licensing-process coordination).
  • Current national NP certification (ANCC or AANP), Family or Adult/Gerontology scope appropriate to adult correctional care.
  • Active DEA registration, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Correctional healthcare experience is required (jail, prison, or detention setting).
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical practice as an APRN/NP.
  • Ability to pass the facility background investigation; current BLS; U.S. work authorization required.

Strongly Preferred: multi-year correctional healthcare experience; chronic disease and medication-assisted treatment experience; existing Alaska licensure and DEA; ACLS; rural or frontier medicine and telehealth experience.

Compensation and Engagement

  • Compensation: $120.00 per hour as a 1099 independent contractor. Equivalent to approximately $249,600 annually only if 2,080 billable hours are worked; assignment volume and full-time hours are not guaranteed.
  • CLFC-provided professional liability (malpractice) coverage for contracted assignments.
  • Recurring assignment volume across a multi-year contract; assignment hours vary and are dispatched as facility needs arise.
  • Assignments are dispatched, claimed, and confirmed through CLFC's BRIDGE App; the State provides on-site workspace at all locations.
  • Approved assignment-related travel and any compensable travel time are handled per the written terms issued for each assignment; CLFC provides credentialing coordination and organized, scheduled payment processing.
