An advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) is authorized to diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications, and manage treatment plans. May work independently or under physician supervision depending on state laws.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive physical exams and medical assessments.
2. Diagnose acute and chronic conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
3. Prescribe medications, therapies, and diagnostic tests based on scope of practice.
4. Perform in-office procedures such as suturing, wound care, or injections (as applicable).
5. Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
6. Educate patients and families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and medication adherence.
7. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and specialists to ensure coordinated care.
8. Document all patient encounters thoroughly in EMRs.

1. Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
2. Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP).
3. National board certification in a recognized NP specialty (FNP, AGNP, ACNP, etc.).
4. Current BLS and ACLS certification (additional credentials may be required depending on the setting).
5. Minimum 1–2 years of clinical NP experience preferred.
