Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join our dynamic team as a Nurse Practitioner in our Dermatology Practice

The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Dermatology "Standardized Procedures" (SP). By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725). Provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provide education and support, as well as make appropriate referrals. Document services rendered. The NP may have to report to multiple Dermatology locations.

Standardized Procedure(s) outline the requirements for supervision. The Nurse Practitioner reports to the designated medical director for clinical practice and designated person for administrative issues

Salary range: $93.81- $133.97/hourly

Job Qualifications

  • Required:
  • CA RN and CA NP license - required
  • MSN/DNP with Adult or FNP Specialty - required
  • National Certification in NP Specialty - required
  • BLS certification from ARC or AHA- required
  • NPI#, DEA#, Enrollment ib PECOS, Enrollment in CURES
  • Previous NP experience - required
  • Previous dermatology experience and knowledge - required
  • Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, and procedures to recognize alternatives and provide solutions.
  • Knowledge to problem-solve with other members of the Patient Communication Center team and to effect change toward improvement of clinic services.
  • Skill in setting priorities while managing multiple commitments and projects as well as ensuring team is meeting goals
  • Skill in verbal communication to clearly convey complex problems and proposals in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure when confronted by difficult situations and to respond professionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively integrate competing demands of a multidisciplinary setting into a productive working environment.
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, physicians, peers, and the public.
  • Skill in recognizing an emergency or high priority situation and taking appropriate and immediate action.
  • Advanced organizational skills to ensure a workable, efficient office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively work with a diverse team of individuals in group settings.
  • Experience with various computer software and hardware including word-processing, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, CareConnect, and the internet.
  • Typing skills to prepare forms and correspondence with speed and accuracy.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge of medical diagnoses, procedures, protocols, treatments, and terminology.
  • Ability to interpret laboratory data and make decisions according to protocol.
  • Skill in recognizing an emergency or high priority situation and taking appropriate and immediate action
  • Knowledge of what comprises the medical history and skill in the history-taking process and providing follow up care as needed.
  • Knowledge of when specific diagnostic tests are indicated according to written protocol.
  • Preferred:
  • Familiarity with UCLA Health system, working knowledge of University policies and procedures.
