Contract Role 

Position Type: Temporary
Schedule: M-F, 20 hours/week
Assignment Length: Approximately 3-6 Months, possibly longer.

DESCRIPTION
The Temporary Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide advanced clinical care and coordination services to patients in the HIV Care and Coordination Clinic located in Long Beach, CA. The NP will deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals living with HIV, ensuring adherence to treatment plans and coordination across multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The ideal candidate will hold an HIV Specialist or AAHIVS certification and demonstrate experience in HIV primary care and chronic disease management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct medical care for individuals living with HIV, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up.

  • Prescribe and manage medications, including antiretroviral therapy (ART), in accordance with current HIV treatment guidelines.

  • Conduct patient education on adherence, prevention, and wellness strategies.

  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, pharmacists, behavioral health providers, and social workers to coordinate holistic patient care.

  • Review diagnostic results, monitor lab trends, and adjust treatment plans as needed.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

  • Support Ryan White Program requirements, data collection, and compliance with reporting standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and national board certification (ANCC or AANP).

  • HIV Specialist (AAHIVS) or HIV Certification required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing care to individuals with HIV or within infectious disease or primary care settings.

  • Current DEA license and BLS/CPR certification.

  • Knowledge of HIV care guidelines, ART regimens, and management of comorbidities.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and care coordination skills.

  • Commitment to providing compassionate, nonjudgmental, and inclusive care to diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ communities.
