We are a busy Oncology-Hematology practice in the mid-Wilshire district. You will be able to practice at the leading edge of cancer treatment as you make the most of your skills, knowledge, and compassion. We are looking for an enthusiastic, willing to learn and hard-working  Nurse Practitioner to add to our practice. We have a full-service laboratory and several infusion rooms with all chairs full throughout the day. The Nurse Practitioner will evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic complaints mostly related to oncology and hematological issues and document in detail within the electronic medical record. The Nurse Practitioner will perform complete physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new patients according to protocols, obtain interval histories and perform pertinent examinations on return patients. Evaluate and order diagnostic studies, assess, and order medications, and order laboratory tests as indicated by evaluation of the patient according to protocols. Perform designated procedures and oversee infusion therapy and chemotherapy protocols. In addition, the Nurse Practitioner may assist with research protocols and all paperwork requirements.  Nurse Practitioner may occasionally be needed to assist nursing staff in chemotherapy if short-handed and/or a complicated issue arises. Responsibilities 


  • Examine each patient, take a detailed medical history, and chart everything medically important in their records
  • Read test results, interpret data appropriately, and make diagnostic suggestions based on those results
  • Explain to the patient, test results, and expected health outcomes
  • Prescribe medication or therapy with a physician overseeing as part of a larger health plan
  • Work closely with provider to formulate a full, comprehensive treatment plan 
Qualifications


  • Valid state licensing required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with medical terminology, charting, and diagnostic tests
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn & interest in Oncology-Hematology a must
  • Must be meticulous, have excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and a team player.
  • Ability to type quickly minimum wpm 60
  • EMR-eClinicalWorks (desired)
  • Must have current DEA certificate, will assist if hired
  • Must have NPI number or have applied, will assist if hired
  • Compensation based on experience
