As a Certified Nurse Practitioner Senior, you will provide comprehensive patient care with limited or no on-site physician oversight. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, developing treatment plans, providing health education, and managing patient care within the scope of Virginia Nurse Practitioner licensure.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations.
Obtain and document complete medical histories.
Diagnose illnesses and develop treatment plans.
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans within practice agreement guidelines.
Provide preventive care, health education, and disease management counseling.
Coordinate referrals to specialists and community resources as needed.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
Document assessments, diagnoses, care plans, treatments, and patient education.
Ensure compliance with VDH policies, nursing protocols, and legal requirements.
Program Support & Leadership
Assist with program planning, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.
Support clinic operations and workflow efficiency.
Provide guidance and training to nursing staff.
Promote best practices and adherence to clinical standards.
Community Engagement
Participate in community health fairs, screenings, and outreach initiatives.
Serve as a public health resource to community organizations and stakeholders.
Support efforts to improve health outcomes throughout Virginia communities.
Qualifications
Required
Active Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Active Virginia Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) License.
Current CPR/BLS Certification.
Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently with sound clinical judgment.
Preferred
Experience in public health or community health settings.
