NOC is currently seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to work with one of our providers who specializes in sports injuries in addition to shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, and ankle problems.

Essential Functions:
  • Transport charts, imaging, and surgical templates to and from the operating room and clinic as needed.
  • Review imaging and verify that all case-specific instruments, implants, and supplies are available and prepared prior to surgery.
  • Assist with proper patient positioning on the operating room table.
  • Apply tourniquets, compression devices, and surgical draping. Provide intraoperative assistance by retracting tissue, positioning extremities, cauterizing vessels, and performing suctioning or sponging as necessary.
  • Complete skin closure procedures as directed by the physician.
  • Apply post-operative dressings, splints, slings, immobilizers, and additional orthopaedic devices as instructed.
  • Assist with safely transferring patients from the operating room table to a stretcher for transport to recovery.
  • Support efficient operating room turnover by assisting with cleaning and preparation between procedures.
  • Maintain and care for privately owned surgical instruments.
  • Coordinate preparation for upcoming surgical procedures and communicate assistance needs to back-office staff when coverage is unavailable.
  • Obtain comprehensive and focused patient histories and physical examinations; interpret and correlate diagnostic and laboratory findings under the direction of the supervising physician.
  • Order, obtain, and perform appropriate diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and procedures.
  • Participate in hospital rounds, complete patient orders, and provide call coverage support for orthopaedic surgeons.
  • Assess patient conditions, develop and implement treatment plans for hospitalized patients, and complete documentation including discharge summaries, histories, and physicals.
  • Evaluate patients presenting through the emergency department.
  • Provide athletic and sports team coverage when needed.
  • Prescribe, dispense, and administer medications, braces, orthotics, orthoses, and related orthopaedic devices in compliance with Nebraska state regulations.
  • Participate in research initiatives, quality assurance projects, and database management activities as directed by the supervising physician.
  • Perform minor clinical procedures including wound management and joint injections as needed.
  • Participate in the shared physician call schedule.
  • Provide support in additional areas of the organization when operational needs arise.
  • Consistent and dependable attendance is required for this position.
Requirements:
  • Must have a Nebraska state Nurse Practitioner license in good standing. 
  • DEA license is preferred.
  • Two years experience is preferred, but not required (Current students are encouraged to apply)
  • Orthopedic knowledge is preferred.
