Summary:
The division of General Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a nurse practitioner to join the outpatient headache program at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine (PCAM) (~2-3 days/week) and Penn Neurology Cherry Hill (~1 day/week) This advanced practice provider (APP) will work closely with a group of specialized physicians and nurse practitioners who diagnose and provide comprehensive treatment for patients with all types of headaches in adults, including migraines, tension-type headaches, cluster headaches, chronic daily headaches, and facial pain disorders. The position requires an APP with excellent critical thinking, organizational and communication skills who is motivated to learn alongside this exceptional team of providers to manage this patient population with chronic pain. The role requires seeing patients in the outpatient neurology clinic, performing comprehensive assessments, evaluating and managing acute migraines, ordering labs and imaging, prescribing specialty medications, medication monitoring and providing exceptional patient education. There is a large procedural component including administration of nerve blocks, trigger point injections and botulinum toxin injections. The role requires a strong partnership with the physician in the headache program along with the pharmacy, nursing and administrative teams to coordinate and manage ongoing care for these patients. This role offers tremendous professional growth and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicine's tripartite mission of clinical care, research and education.
Schedule: M-F, no nights or weekends
Primary site is PCAM with likely 1 full clinic day Cherry Hill and telemedicine option
