Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Hematologic Malignancy and Cellular Therapy outpatient team to care for patients with Blood Cancers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform through physical examinations.
Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities. \
Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgement including prescribing appropriate medications.
Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documenting toxicities and data collection.
Communication among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members.
Participate in the education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
Perform procedures including:
Bone Marrow Biopsies
Lumbar Puncture with and without intrathecal chemotherapy
Ommaya Access with and without intrathecal chemotherapy
Punch skin biopsy with simple suture.
Attend program required meetings.
Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.
