A Clinic is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide addiction medicine and behavioral health services to individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders. This position offers in-person patient care and works closely with physicians, counselors, case managers, and support staff to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered treatment.
The ideal candidate will have experience treating patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions and will be committed to supporting patients throughout their recovery journey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive medical and behavioral health assessments for new and established patients.
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage substance use disorders, including opioid, alcohol, stimulant, and other addictions.
Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated.
Prescribe medications within scope of practice and state regulations.
Participate in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs, including management of medications such as Suboxone (buprenorphine) and other FDA-approved treatment options.
Evaluate and manage patients with co-occurring behavioral health conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and related disorders.
Order and interpret laboratory tests, toxicology screenings, and other diagnostic studies.
Educate patients and family members regarding treatment plans, relapse prevention, medication compliance, and recovery resources.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Collaborate with counselors, therapists, physicians, and case management staff to coordinate care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and clinic regulations.
In-Person Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and evaluations.
Conduct physical examinations as needed.
Initiate and manage treatment plans for substance use disorders and behavioral health conditions.
Monitor patients participating in MAT programs.
Review laboratory results and toxicology screenings.
Coordinate care with counseling and support services.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Active North Carolina NP or PA license in good standing.
Current DEA registration.
National Board Certification as an NP or PA.
Current BLS certification.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication and patient engagement abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Addiction Medicine, Behavioral Health, Family Medicine, or Primary Care.
Experience working with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs.
Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery-based treatment models.
Experience treating patients with co-occurring mental health conditions.
Waiver training or experience prescribing buprenorphine/naloxone is preferred.

Flexible schedule based on clinic needs.
Weekly hours: 20-30.
Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays
