The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers comprehensive patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities include evaluating new and established patients, developing treatment plans, ordering diagnostic tests, documenting care in the electronic health record, and providing patient education. The APP may assist in surgery, perform hospital rounds, and participate in call coverage as required.
Education/Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a current & unrestricted license to practice in the state of Ohio, OR
- Graduate of anAAPA-accredited program with a current & unrestricted license to practice in the state of Ohio.
- An active certificate to prescribe is required
- RN First Assist certification, when required for surgical responsibilities.
- Desire a minimum of two years of clinical experience in an acute health care setting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Meet post-operative and non-operative medical management patients in the office and assess their condition; establish and maintain treatment plans; order diagnostic tests (e.g., X-ray); dictate chart notes.
- Perform clinical rounds on inpatients and collaborate with the appropriate medical staff to meet patient needs.
- Take call as requested.
- Serve as First Assist in surgery when indicated.
- Act as a liaison between physician and patient by providing the patient with instruction from the physician, advising the physician of the patient’s needs, and assuring that the physician is available to the patient whenever necessary, in person or by telephone.
- Document all patient interactions promptly and thoroughly into the patient’s medical record.
- Collaborate with appropriate personnel to coordinate outpatient testing.
- Maintain and upgrade clinical skills and professional expertise through participation in professional organizations, workshop attendance, CEU activities, formal education, and current literature review.
