    Job Requirements

    The University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Nurse Practitioner to join our inpatient Palliative Care team within a high-acuity academic medical center environment.

    This position offers the opportunity to work alongside an interdisciplinary team providing specialized care to patients with serious and complex illnesses. The Nurse Practitioner will support symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, advance care planning, and patient/family support while collaborating closely with physicians, nursing staff, social work, chaplaincy, and consulting services.

    Our palliative care team plays a vital role in delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care across a diverse inpatient population within one of the region’s leading academic health systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide inpatient palliative care consultations and follow-up care
    • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment plans
    • Assist with symptom management and pain management strategies
    • Facilitate goals-of-care and advance care planning discussions
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
    • Support patients and families through complex medical decision-making
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record

    Qualifications

    • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
    • Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Maryland
    • National board certification required
    • DEA and CDS registration preferred or eligible
    • Prior inpatient, palliative care, oncology, ICU, or acute care experience preferred
    • minimum 2 years experience required; must have at least 2 years of palliative experience
    • Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
