Position Summary/ Department Summary: Nurse Practitioner, Perioperative Anesthesia, Per Diem The Nurse Practitioner in Perioperative Anesthesia collaborates closely with perioperative and anesthesia teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the surgical continuum. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborating with perioperative and anesthesia teams to provide comprehensive care to patients preoperatively in the operating rooms at our Boston site
Conducting patient and family interviews; obtaining and documenting medical history, review of systems, and physical examinations as part of the pre-anesthetic evaluation
Educating patients and families regarding the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of anesthesia, and obtaining anesthesia consent
Serving as a consultant and educator to perioperative nursing staff
Acting as a liaison among the anesthesia attending, primary anesthesia team, nursing staff, and families to optimize patient care and communication
Prescribing and administering premedication prior to anesthesia
Working per diem working fully on site for: 10-hour shifts, 6:30am-5pm. No nights, weekends or major holidays
Minimum Qualifications Education:
A Master of Science in Nursing
Experience:
5 years of relevant nurse practitioner experience is preferred
