The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to work collaboratively with cardiologists in an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Hours: Seasonal, must be able to rotate at the hospital, rotate weekends & must have availability to be on call.

Job Functions:

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides cardiac care to patients.

Perform comprehensive inpatient/outpatient visits which include:

Outpatient:

  • Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients with acute, chronic and/or cardiac patients with potential health problems.
  • Establish medical diagnoses. Write specific orders within the limits of the practice agreement/scope of practice.
  • Perform stress testing, provide appropriate direction to office staff regarding patient care issues (triage calls etc. Manages or independently performs evaluative and treatment necessary to provide an appropriate response to life threatening emergency situations until the arrival of emergency response teams.
  • Communicates effectively with referring and primary health care providers. Manage independent outpatient clinical practice and coverage for collaborating physicians, including rotating on call weekday/weekend night and weekend coverage.
  • Maintain clinical documentation according to group practice.
  • Educates patients and families on treatment and wellness care plans

Inpatient:

  • Conducts comprehensive health history and physical assessment of patients with acute health problems.
  • Performs admission history and physical, develops, manages and modifies treatment plans.
  • Participates in daily rounding and collaborates with attending or consulting team to adjust plans of care.
  • Manages or independently performs evaluative and treatment necessary to provide an appropriate response to life threatening emergency situations until the arrival of emergency response teams. Facilitates referrals to appropriate community health facilities, agencies and resources.
  • Discharges hospitalized patients at the direction of the attending physician.
  • Prepares and dictates discharge summaries of patients' hospitalization and clinic care.
  • Assists with intraoperative processes and procedures, when needed, and as granted through privileging processes.
