Nurse Practitioner / Physician Associate. - Out Patient Oncology

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking Full-time 4 days/40 hour for our Lewiston/Rumford clinic. The successful candidate will have a strong oncology/hematology background and be comfortable seeing a broad spectrum of cancer patients. The APP will travel between both our Lewiston and Rumford clinics seeing patients 2 days in each facility. The NP/PA collaborates closely with physicians diagnosing, treating, and managing patient care in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Elicit medical histories of patients, perform physical examinations, and develop a differential diagnosis/problem list.
• Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies,
• Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic data, diagnose, and treat co-morbid illness within the scope of a patient’s hematologic/oncologic diagnosis, perform procedures as delegated by the attending physician, prescribe medications in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Determine the eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials based on findings.
• Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement.
• Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient.
• Educate patients and families about the disease process and treatment.
• Provide information to patients and families related to symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of cancer and related treatment.

Yearly Salary Range: $105,700-$176,100

Required Experience:

• State of Maine Nurse Practitioner/Physicians Associate license required or the ability to obtain.
• State of New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assiociate License required or the ability to obtain
• Three (3) years’ experience in Oncology and Hematology.
• Master’s Degree Required.
• Women's Health Experience Desired
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff.
• Ability to communicate with patients in a clear, concise, and compassionate manner.
