QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; 2 years of psychiatry experience preferred; 1 year of travel experience for travel positions.
  • License: NYS RN License
  • Certifications: BLS, CPI or PMCS Certification required
  • Must-Have: Great organizational skills, EPIC experience highly preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers patient care by incorporating the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based on theory and evidence-based practice.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management.
  • Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
  • Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care, delegating to others as appropriate.
  • Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease while anticipating needs and readiness to learn.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the interdisciplinary patient care team.
  • Manages assignments within the care delivery model, demonstrating effective allocation of material resources.
  • Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through various actions including admissions, bedside reporting, and purposeful hourly rounding.
  • Considers patients' values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in all aspects of care.
  • Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
    Uses evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of care.
  • Initiates service recovery when concerns arise, escalating issues as necessary.
    Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and active listening through body language and actions.
  • Supports staff in utilizing evidence-based practices to improve patients' perceptions of care.
  • Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients addressing key care aspects.
  • Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers to improvement.
  • Demonstrates knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served.
    Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.
  • Implements principles of high reliability to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Documents nursing practice accurately and thoroughly in compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis.
  • Contributes to a supportive environment of care for clinical colleagues, patients, and families.
  • Advances clinical competence in nursing practice and projects a professional image to colleagues.
  • Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families.
  • Encourages a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, and lifelong learning.
