The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care while promoting optimal patient outcomes. Key responsibilities include:
Patient Assessment: Identify alterations in health and assess the patient’s responses to actual and potential health problems.
Care Planning & Intervention: Develop and implement individualized nursing interventions based on nursing theory and concepts from nursing, the arts, and sciences.
Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and modify the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Patient & Family Engagement: Whenever possible, actively involve the patient, family members, and significant others in assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Leadership & Supervision: Supervise and direct care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAPs).
Delegation: Appropriately assign and delegate patient care responsibilities to qualified members of the healthcare team.
Care Coordination: Collaborate and coordinate care with other professional disciplines to ensure comprehensive and effective patient care.
Professional Practice: Participate in unit-based activities that promote a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients while providing care that reflects their individual needs, preferences, and goals.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred at the time of hire.
Professional Certification: Professional nursing board certification preferred at the time of hire.
BSN Requirement: Nurses hired after April 30, 2014 who do not have a BSN are required to obtain a BSN within three years of hire.
Board Certification Requirement: Nurses hired after June 30, 2011 who do not hold a professional nursing board certification are required to obtain certification within two years of hire, or by the certification eligibility date for certifications requiring more than two years of experience.

Registered Nurse (RN) License: Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Florida.
