ESS Clinical is seeking a local contract nurse RN School Nurse Extern for a local contract nursing job in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
LOCATION: Michigan (several schools in Michigan requiring staff education on students' diabetes management or any other management of students' chronic conditions).
SCHEDULE: Part-time with heavy volume in the beginning of the school year and opportunities to work PRN throughout the school year.

You’ll play a vital role in keeping students healthy, safe, and ready to learn — while providing reassurance to families and staff. As a Registered Nurse in a school clinic, you bring clinical expertise to support student wellness, respond to health concerns, and help create a safe learning environment.
Provide day-to-day nursing care in the school clinic
Administer medications and monitor student health needs
Assess and respond to illness or injury
Support communicable disease prevention protocols
Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers
Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality (HIPAA/FERPA compliance)
Utilize clinical judgment to evaluate student health concerns and determine appropriate care
Active Michigan RN License (Required)
Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Pediatric, school, or community health experience preferred (not required)
Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills
Basic knowledge of medication administration and communicable disease prevention
Current or willingness to obtain BLS or CPR/First Aid (role dependent)
