Nurse's Assistant - Clerical Support
BURGESS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Part Time Position - 3 Days per Week
2026-2027 School Year
Anticipated Start Date: August 31, 2026
Reports to:School Nurse and Building Principal
Responsibilities:
Supports the school nurse in the duties pertaining to the health office, performs clerical functions and carries out delegated nursing activities on behalf of the students. Maintains confidentiality regarding all information related to school business, students' health records, and any information related to the health office.
Essential Functions:
- performs simple first aid care to students with minor injuries
- assists in computerizing student health information
- maintains up-to-date emergency information for all students
- assists in screenings for students, including vision, hearing, scoliosis, head lice, height and weight
- provides assistance in the registration process regarding health issues, as needed
- organizes, copies, and distributes pertinent notices to staff, students and their families
- assists in preparation of health related activities for students and staff
- maintains and organizes health office supplies, including ordering and restocking as required
- performs diaper changes and provides toileting assistance for students when necessary
- attend field trips as assigned
- trains for delegation of administration of EpiPen's and medications as needed
- performs other duties as assigned

- manage multiple tasks
- solve practical problems with students and staff
- provide information and assistance to parents, the general public and other staff members in a helpful, courteous and timely manner
Knowledge of:
- effective use of computer and relevant software applications
- safe operation of school equipment necessary to successfully complete daily tasks
- interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy, including telephone etiquette
- universal precautions
Qualifications:
- evidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
- working knowledge of computer and clerical skills
- experience working with children
Education:
- Associate's degree or equivalent
- Experience in the medical field preferred.
Salary Range: $30.34 - $34.46 per hour
