Nurse Shift Manager - Medical Surgical ICU - Make a Difference at Northridge Hospital Medical Center


Are you a passionate and experienced ICU nurse ready to lead and inspire a team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care? Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a dynamic Nurse Shift Manager t o join our Medical Surgical ICU team. In this vital role, you'll coordinate and supervise nursing care for patients from newborn to 18 years old, ensuring the highest standards of evidence-based practice are met.


+ Leads and supervises nursing staff during assigned shifts, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

+ Assigns patient care responsibilities based on patient acuity and nursing staff expertise, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

+ Serves as a clinical resource and educator, assessing, monitoring, and training nursing staff on best practices in patient care.

+ Responds effectively to emergencies, initiating appropriate procedures and providing guidance to the team.

+ Proactively anticipates and addresses staffing needs, ensuring seamless patient care transitions.

+ Provides direct patient care as needed, demonstrating clinical expertise and compassion.

+ Oversees unit operations, including supply management and accurate patient record keeping, to ensure a smooth transition for subsequent shifts.

+ Actively engages with patients and families, fostering a positive and supportive care environment.

+ Attends leadership meetings, staying informed about new initiatives and areas for improvement, and effectively communicates this information to the team.

+ Monitors departmental productivity and efficiency, identifying opportunities for optimization.

+ Mentors and develops team members, sharing knowledge and fostering confidence in assistant nurse managers, charge nurses, and other staff.

+ Ensures the department is positioned to deliver the highest quality care to our patients.

Qualifications


+ Associates Degree in Nursing (e.g. ADN) required and actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other-related field (e.g., BSN/BBA/BHA).

+ Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.

+ Registered Nurse with current CA License

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) other credentials or credential modules may be required.

+ LA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.
