Holliston Public Schools is looking for a School Nurse for our Extended School Year (ESY) program this summer. The DESE licensed RN provides primary and emergency health care; administers medication as prescribed by medical providers; and provides health care to students with specialized needs.

Requirements: DESE Certification

The pay rate is: $40.00/hour

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00am - 2:00pm (4 days, 24 hours per week)

The Extended School Year schedule for 2026 will run Monday through Thursdays starting July 6, 2026 through August 6, 2026; Most services follow a Monday through Thursday schedule. An additional week of services may be held the week before and the week after for a limited number of children. There will be a one-day orientation for all staff tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Qualifications:

  • School nurse educator's license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Bachelor's in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts (M.G.L. c.7l, s.53).
  • Current CPR certification/AED training from a recognized provider (such as the American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
  • A strong knowledge and demonstrated skill in working with students in a school setting (K - grade 12).

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive assessment and evaluation of students' health status.
  • Serve as health advocate and provide primary and emergency health care to students, staff and visitors, with a focus in providing care to students with specialized health care needs.
  • Provide appropriate staff with student medical information and guidance related to student health issues as needed.
  • Provide consultation, relevant teaching, counseling and guidance to assist students and their caregivers in assuming responsibility for health care.
  • Administer medication in accordance with state and school policies.
  • Understanding of individual healthcare plans, 504 plans, and emergency healthcare plans.
  • Utilize SNAP software to document and maintain accurate health records for students.
