What You''ll Be Doing

Wake County Public Health provides essential health services to residents across the county, with a commitment to accessible, high-quality, and equitable care. Our clinical services support individuals and families through prevention, education, treatment, and connection to community resources.

We are seeking a skilled Family Planning - Nurse Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of public health professionals to support the health and well-being of Wake County residents. You will contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered environment focused on improving health outcomes, reducing barriers to care, and providing responsive services to our community. The clinic provides services Monday through Friday.

The Family Planning Clinic provides confidential reproductive and sexual health services to help individuals make informed decisions about their health. Services include health assessments, education and counseling, contraceptive services, and other preventive care designed to support individual reproductive health goals.

In this role, you will:

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the delivery of nursing services for patients within the clinic.

Clinical Practice

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for pediatric patients from birth through age 21.
  • Perform nursing assessments, triage, and patient evaluations according to established clinical guidelines.
  • Administer immunizations and accurately document vaccinations in the North Carolina Immunization Registry (NCIR).
  • Provide patient and family education regarding immunizations, preventive health, chronic disease management, nutrition, and community resources.
  • Coordinate care with providers and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in care management and follow-up activities for patients requiring additional services.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely within the electronic health record.

Clinic Operations

  • Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, medical assistants, and support staff to promote efficient clinic workflow and patient access.
  • Assist with daily clinic operations and support timely patient flow.
  • Maintain clinical competencies and participate in orientation and competency validation activities.
  • Participate in quality assurance, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, evidence-based practice, CDC recommendations, and North Carolina Board of Nursing regulations.
  • Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, and emergency equipment readiness.

Quality Improvement

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with monitoring quality measures, immunization compliance, developmental screening completion, and follow-up activities.
  • Participate in implementation of clinical protocols, standing orders, and evidence-based workflows.
  • Support regulatory and accreditation compliance activities.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with providers, schools, community agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to improve pediatric health outcomes.
  • Participate in community outreach activities promoting child health, preventive care, and disease prevention.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and educational activities.
  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Participate in emergency preparedness training and response activities.
  • Maintain required certifications and assist in ensuring clinic readiness.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor''s degree in Nursing
  • Two years of experience as a nurse
  • North Carolina Board of Nursing Licensed Registered Nurse
  • CPR
  • AED
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

  • Experience in a private OBGYN practice
