    Job Description

    Schedules, assigns daily duties, and assesses the general performance of the nursing staff in the practice. Performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for the admission of patients, utilizing the Nursing processes of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. Performs all duties of a Registered Professional Nurse as necessary.

    Job Responsibility

    • Supervises, hires, educates, disciplines and evaluates the performance of nursing staff.
    • Develops long-term practice staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily coverage in accordance with established staffing needs.
    • Develops measures and monitors practice clinical operational performance metrics inclusive of agency and overtime costs.
    • Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner; Interviews nursing candidates and orients new employees.
    • Educates staff in new and existing department procedures and systems (e.g. information systems, fiscal responsibility, etc.).
    • Identifies quality improvement issues and develops practice based quality improvement programs, as well as standards of care and practice.
    • Oversees the education and orientation of nursing staff and keeps abreast of current trends, quality issues and departmental affairs.
    • Maintains a current level of knowledge inclusive of Evidenced Based Practice relative to professional practice.
    • Conducts monthly meetings with the staff to address equipment, scheduling, goals and objectives, performance metrics and improvement activities, and any staff concerns.

    Job Qualification

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
    • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
    • 4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.
    • Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in Wound care preferred.
