Position Summary The Nursery Aide is responsible to provide nurturing age-appropriate care for children ages 0 - 5 and for implementing all aspects of nursery programming and operations. This role must ensure that all nursery operations follow The Salvation Armys standards as well as federal state and local guidelines. Above all this position supports and reflects the mission of The Salvation Army by nurturing children in an atmosphere of compassion and faith. Essential ResponsibilitiesEnsure a safe orderly structured environment for infants and preschool children in the nursery.Supervise children during all activities in the nurseryImplement programs for children in the nursery including weekly Christian curriculum structured entertainment and food needsSupervise the volunteers that are assigned to assistMeet with supervisor weekly to review nursery operationsCheck in and out the children so they are safely returned to their appropriate parents or guardiansMaintain a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a manner that fosters good communication and relationships with clients co-workers and supervisors. This includes such actions as conflict resolution courteousness respect for others property and person and professional and appropriate communicationEnsure the nursery space is cleaned at the end of each shiftDocument injuries or issues as they arise properly informing parents and Corps OfficersMaintain confidentiality and enforce Safe From Harm guidelinesPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducationExperience High school diploma GED or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilitiesExperience working with children and youth activities is desirableSkills Knowledge & Abilities Ability to interact with different personality typesGood communication skills able to read and write proficiently Self-starter and perform well with minimum supervisionComputer SkillsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365Basic knowledge of TEAMS and SharePointWillingness to learn new software as neededCertificates and Licenses Complete Safe From Harm training and keep current as neededCertification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR and First AideMust have a current valid drivers license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check MVR
