Job Description

Minnesota State College Southeast seeks an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Minnesota State College Southeast are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission.  The college is committed to reflecting a diversity of perspectives and backgrounds among its administrators, faculty and staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Duties Include:

·       Participate in department and college curriculum development.

·       Deliver classroom, lab, simulation and/or clinical instruction through face-to-face and/or online course instruction.

·       Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.

·       Mentor and advise students.

·       Participate in committee assignments and college-wide initiatives.

·       Participate in program accreditation and program review.

·       Engage in scholarly and other professional development activities.

·       Advocate on behalf of students, program and college.

·       Collaboration on public and private construction initiatives.

·       Participate in professional development activities

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

·       Graduate degree with a major in nursing, or

·       Bachelor's degree in nursing and a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education.

·       A nursing program director must hold a graduate degree in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty.

Occupational Experience Requirement

·       Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.

·       As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.

Recency Requirement

·       One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement

·       Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.

Other Requirement: 

Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field of Nursing, AD

Preferred Qualification 

·       Experience working with Clinical Simulation

·       Familiar with Concept Based Theory in nursing education

·       Previous teaching experience or demonstrated ability to teach in a Community College setting in both in-person and online learning environments

·       Experience utilizing learning management systems such as D2L

·       An understanding and knowledge of classroom, lab, clinical and simulation teaching methods, skills, and issues along with an understanding of an array of academic areas/programs and related issues.

Salary Range:

Full-time faculty salaries currently range from $43,067- $96,601 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2025 - 2027 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year. The starting salary for this position is anticipated not to exceed $71,893.00.

Work Shift

Course assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend hours consisting of lecture, lab, simulation and/or clinical assignments in hospital, community settings and/or long-term care centers located in the Winona and surrounding area including off-site locations.
