The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR

Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR

Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.

NOTE:

Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Provide residents assistance with activities of daily living
  • Obtain vital signs and weights
  • Observe the residents condition and report any changes to the nurse

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: WAE Appointment - not to exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period

Compensation: This position is eligible for retention pay (per hour worked) and shift differential.
