MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred
- Experience in a school setting
- Knowledge of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Knowledge of tube feeding and basic care
- Ability to work with a variety of students in regard of age and functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in the English Language, both orally and through written expression
- Must complete required health examination and immunizations
- Provide proof of US Citizenship or legal resident status
- Possesses basic technological skills as required by position
- Must be able to clear a Background Check.

JOB GOALS:
The School Nurse Aide provides essential support to the School Nurse, assisting with the daily health needs of students and staff. This role includes administering basic first aid, managing student health records, supporting the school nurse with routine health screenings, and monitoring students for concerns. The School Health Aide plays a critical role in promoting a safe and healthy environment for all students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide routine first aid for injuries and care for ill students.
- Administer daily and emergency medication as delegated by the school nurse.
- Assist in basic nursing tasks such as tube feedings, under the direction of the School Nurse.
- Maintain accurate, confidential health records and document student clinic visits in electronic systems.
- Conduct vision, hearing, and postural screenings.
- Act as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and the School Nurse, including notifying guardians of health issues when requested by the School Nurse and/or administration.
- Monitor the school environment for safety hazards and adhere to federal, state, and district health regulations.
- Manage health office supplies and assist with clerical duties.
- Ensure that the health office is clean, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies.
- Assist with scheduling student appointments with the School Nurse.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations related to school health services, FERPA, HIPPA, and New Jersey Department of Heath guidelines.
SALARY: Salary based off of the ACSSEA Salary Guide, starting at $67,000 and up, State Health Benefits, Sick, Personal and Bereavement Time.
