Nursing Assistant / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Location: Various New York State Facilities (SUNY Medical Centers, Veterans' Homes, and Corrections)
Positions Available: 6 Total (5 Full-Time, 1 Part-Time)
Grade Levels: Grade 6 (NA 1) | Grade 8 (NA 2 & Certified)
Position Overview
We are seeking six (6) dedicated Nursing Assistants to join our healthcare teams across New York State. These positions provide essential, hands-on care to individuals in hospital and long-term care settings. We are looking to fill the following slots:
5 Full-Time Positions: 40 hours per week.
1 Part-Time Position: 20 hours per week (Flexible shift options).
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care: Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and mobility).
Clinical Tasks: Perform simple treatments such as dressing changes, therapeutic baths, and applying hot/cold compresses under clinical direction.
Vitals & Monitoring: Take and record temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration; monitor food/fluid intake and output.
Observation: Recognize and report abnormal signs, symptoms, or behavioral changes to the nursing or medical staff.
Specialized Support: Assist with specimen collection and operate specialized equipment (lifts, oxygen therapy tools, braces).
Environment & Comfort: Maintain clean and sanitary patient areas; manage patient laundry and belongings; provide emotional support and encouragement.
Available Levels
Nursing Assistant 1 (Grade 6): Entry-level role. Includes in-service training to build clinical skills.
Nursing Assistant 2 (Grade 8): Full-performance level requiring one year of experience or CNA certification.
Nursing Assistant (Certified) (Grade 8): Required for long-term care settings (e.g., Veterans' Homes); requires valid NYS CNA certification.
Minimum Qualifications
NA 1: Ability to learn and perform basic patient care duties during the probationary period.
NA 2: One year of full-time patient care experience OR current NYS CNA certification.
Nursing Assistant (Certified): Must possess a current and valid New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
Schedule & Hours
Full-Time (5 positions): 40 hours per week. Specific shifts to be discussed during the interview.
Part-Time (1 position): 20 hours per week. This individual has the flexibility to work either shift (Day/Evening/Night) based on facility needs and candidate availability.
