We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a hospital surgical services department. This role is responsible for managing clinical operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and quality improvement initiatives while ensuring exceptional patient care and physician satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will be a strong healthcare leader with extensive Operating Room (OR) management experience and a proven ability to lead high-performing teams in an acute care hospital environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct all Surgical Services and Operating Room operations.
• Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
• Support departmental goals aligned with hospital objectives.
• Develop and implement services that meet patient and physician expectations.
• Monitor clinical outcomes and operational efficiencies.

• Lead recruitment, retention, and onboarding efforts.
• Conduct staff performance evaluations and competency assessments.
• Oversee orientation, continuing education, and annual training requirements.
• Promote employee engagement, accountability, and professional development.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements.
• Maintain readiness for accreditation and regulatory surveys.
• Participate in and lead Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and risk management programs.

• Develop and manage departmental budgets.
• Monitor expenditures and productivity metrics.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost containment.
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources while maintaining quality standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Strong Operating Room (OR) clinical background.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of hospital operations, compliance requirements, and quality initiatives.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of progressive Operating Room management experience.
• Surgical Services leadership experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Experience managing budgets, staffing, and departmental performance metrics.
• Experience leading performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
