DESCRIPTION:

Edmonds College is seeking Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty for our Nursing department. This position is enabled by the Our Colleges, Our Future Act of 2021 to guarantee equitable access and educational success for all, particularly for students from communities of color and low-income communities. This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Director of Nursing (DoN) and the Dean of the School of Healthcare and Human Services (SHHS), with an anticipated start date in September 2026 and a 9-month service period.

This unique position is a genuine opportunity to change students lives through nursing education. The College¿s Nursing Department is small, and for that very reason, we are also ¿high touch,¿ affecting peoples lives in very meaningful ways.

  • This position will primarily provide instruction in our nursing assistant and practical nursing programs, with opportunities to contribute to other departmental offerings as needed.

  • The teaching assignment may include early-morning, late-afternoon, evening, weekend, or online classes.

  • Instruction modes may be online, face-to-face classroom, skills lab, clinical instruction, and simulation facilitation for students.

  • Faculty are responsible for

  • Developing an equitable and culturally responsive curriculum

  • Preparing teaching materials that reflect innovative, student-centered pedagogy and evidence-based practice

  • Developing and assessing student learning outcomes

  • Maintaining required records

  • Providing academic advising and consultation with students

  • Collaborating with the I-BEST program and faculty to provide responsive, student-centered education and scheduling

  • Maintaining open communication with the Director of Nursing, full-time and associate faculty, and healthcare facility staff.

  • Other responsibilities include

  • Demonstrating cultural humility and creating an educational environment that affirms the identities of all students.

  • Participating in the nursing program and college governance through department and division work, and committee assignments

  • Working toward the achievement of the college¿s mission and goals

  • Completing the required professional development and college training (including employee orientation and college compliance training)

  • Completing personal and program evaluation

  • Attending department, division, industry, and partnership meetings.

  • Participating in program outreach by assisting with marketing and recruitment activities, reviewing program applications, and participating in the admission process

  • Faculty participate in activities required for accreditation from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) to ensure that accreditation standards are met.

  • Faculty adhere to all state WACs and guidelines regarding nursing programs and participate in activities required for program approval from the Washington State Board of Nursing (WA BON)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master¿s degree in nursing OR a related field is preferred. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required with concurrent enrollment in a master¿s degree program. All degrees must be from a nationally accredited program.
  • Current unencumbered RN Licensure in Washington State or ability to obtain WA state license by date of hire.
  • Three years of recent clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing across the lifespan is required.
  • Evidence of, or potential for, college-level teaching experience in nursing, including classroom, clinical, and hands-on lab instruction; or an equivalent combination of clinical work and training experience comparable to such teaching experience, is required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience facilitating simulations is desired.
  • Specialty experience in the care of older adults or maternal-child health is desired.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom, office, lab, or clinical setting and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods. Faculty are required to use computers and other technology frequently in the work environment.

COMPENSATION:

The salary is based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education. The current range is $88,536.91 - $89,988.74 annually for a 172-day appointment, with contractually guided increases to $107,394.12. The college provides an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.

NOTE: In addition to the annual salary amount determined by the salary placement on the full-time salary schedule, this Nursing Educator position is eligible to receive up to a 25% annual stipend, contingent upon continued allocation of Nursing Educator state funding. Hiring for this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
