Salary Placement and Work Hours: This is a 9-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the D1 Salary Schedule with a range of $46,590-$94,363, dependent on education and applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President and Alabama Community College System Board Policy and salary schedule guidelines. The work week is Monday through Friday and hours worked will be a minimum of 35 per week. An additional summer semester amount of $14,384 to $29,184 may be available, depending upon enrollment and the needs of the institution. The teaching assignment is located primarily on the NACC campus and at its clinical sites. This job begins on August 17, 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Nursing Instructor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The Nursing Instructor must teach nursing courses; assess student performance; advise students; participate in college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and grades; and assist in registration. In addition, this position must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), and Northeast Alabama Community College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In accordance with course syllabi and schedule of classes, teach courses as assigned
  • Organize, instruct, and supervise students as assigned
  • Prepare course syllabi and objectives in conjunction with departmental guidelines
  • Participate in selection of texts and teaching materials
  • Serve as academic advisor for students as assigned, including utilizing advising software
  • Participate in all student registration periods and work closely with students to adjust schedules per the college drop/add process
  • Recommend appropriate library resources, instructional equipment, and curriculum improvements as necessary to maintain an effective program
  • Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of nursing curricula to insure maximum student competency
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College
  • Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in ACCS and College policies and as approved by the President
  • Attend all faculty meetings, in-service, and convocations
  • Participate in the College's planning process
  • Serve on institutional committees as assigned
  • Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education
  • Recruit students for the College
  • Agree to teach day and evening classes, on- and/or off-campus, and distance education classes
  • Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
  • Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Competency in the use of current educational technologies is preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree from a regionally-accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in the subject is required
  • An active unencumbered Alabama registered nurse or multistate registered nurse license is required
  • Experience in medical/surgical, acute care, and critical care nursing preferred
  • Teaching experience at the community college level is preferred

Sick Leave

All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement

The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. Tuition Assistance

This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
