Responsibilities
The part-time Nursing Laboratory Manager manages the daily operations of the non-instructional activities in the nursing skills lab, ensuring it aligns with the nursing curriculum and provides a safe, effective learning environment for students. Key responsibilities include managing lab activities, maintaining and ordering inventory, and offering support to students and faculty to enhance hands-on learning and clinical skills development.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Manages the daily operations of the non-instructional activities in the nursing skills lab, including scheduling, setup, and cleanup of lab sessions.2. Manages all aspects of inventory management of nursing skills lab, including the ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies and equipment to ensure timely availability and efficient operations.3. Ensures a safe, organized, and well-stocked lab by conducting regular maintenance checks on equipment, properly disposing of and storing hazardous materials, and maintaining accurate records of lab usage, equipment upkeep, and inventory.4. Collaborates with faculty and staff to coordinate lab activities and simulations and ensuring alignment with Nursing curriculum objectives.5. Supports faculty and students in the development and implementation of new lab activities, simulations, and teaching materials.6. Develops and implements lab policies to ensure compliance with safety and educational standards.7. Proposes and implements improvements to lab operations and student learning experiences.8. Assists in the orientation and training of new lab users to include faculty, staff, and visitors.9. Proposes budget allocation for lab supplies and equipment.10. Evaluates emerging trends in simulation technology and nursing practice standards.11. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Associate's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in Nursing.2. Unencumbered active Florida RN License.3. Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.4. One (1) year of experience in a nursing skills lab and/or teaching nursing students.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:1. Knowledge of nursing practices, simulation-based education, and healthcare technology and ability to integrate them into lab activities.2. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and compliance requirements, accreditation standards, and International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) simulation standards.3. Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot healthcare simulation equipment, software, and other lab technologies.4. Demonstrated knowledge in the effective use of laboratory technology and equipment. 5. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.6. Excellent MS Office Skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).7. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.8. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.9. Ability to exhibit a professional courteous demeanor and interact effectively with students, faculty, and supervisors.10. Ability to work in a multicultural environment.WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:1. Works in a classroom/laboratory setting.2. Must be able to lift, move, carry, and arrange equipment and mannequins up to 30 pounds with assistance.3. May be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.4.
